Categories Of Speed

In Brief

  • There are 4 main forms of speed in the Sonic games
    • Over-clock speed – The fastest Sonic can travel (achieved through using devices such as speed pads)
    • Top Speed – This is the fastest Sonic can travel without using devices
    • Normal & Accelerating speed – These speeds are experienced as Sonic shifts from being stationery to reaching the top speed.

The classic and modern games uses these speeds in different ways.

The Sonic games offer different forms of speed.

Main categories

Normal speed

Normal speed is experienced when the player starts moving Sonic from a stationary position. Provided the player does not stop, this speed is only experienced for a few split seconds.
